cult film: a critical symposium

[via cineaste magazine]

this is a collection of varying definitions of “cult film” proposed by prominent film critics and scholars. david church - a PhD student in CMCL - provides the most compelling response. he nearly implies that viral videos display “paracinematic” qualities, bolstering an argument i made in a paper - the phenomenon of viewing “viral videos” on the internet is ostensibly similar to behavior associated with cult films. church also uses the adjective “lumpen” to describe the lower-middle class. MAJOR POINTS!
